Technical Advisory & Infrastructure

Good technology strategy means nothing without the technical depth to back it up. ZongeTech provides hands-on technical advisory and infrastructure services to organisations that need experienced ICT professionals in their corner — whether for a specific project, an ongoing advisory arrangement, or the design and deployment of ICT infrastructure at complex or distributed sites. Our team has worked inside government departments, national health facilities, port health remote sites, and corporate data centres. We understand the technical realities of operating in South Africa, including the connectivity constraints, power challenges, and procurement rules that shape every infrastructure decision.

What services we provide

Technical advisory is not about telling your team what to do from a distance. It is about being close enough to the work to give advice that is practical, accurate, and immediately useful. Whether your executives need ICT guidance at the strategic level or your IT team needs a senior technical hand on a specific problem, ZongeTech is available to help — on your terms, at the level of support you need.

Executive ICT Advisory
Senior leaders in government and business are regularly required to make technology decisions that have long-term consequences — on procurement, infrastructure, staffing, and service delivery. We provide direct, plain-language ICT advisory support to executives and Ministerial offices, helping decision-makers understand their options, evaluate vendor proposals, and avoid costly mistakes. Our CEO Arnold Phiri has provided 24/7 advisory support to high-ranking government officials and Ministerial Task Teams — that same quality of counsel is available to all ZongeTech clients. We give you honest advice, not advice shaped by what a vendor wants you to hear.
ICT Infrastructure Design & Deployment
We plan, design, and manage the deployment of ICT infrastructure across a wide range of environments — from corporate head offices and government buildings to remote sites with limited connectivity and unreliable power. Our infrastructure work covers local area networks, wide area network connectivity, server environments, end-user computing, and communications systems. We have particular experience designing infrastructure for distributed government operations, including port health sites and rural health facilities, where standard approaches do not always apply. Every infrastructure solution we design is practical, cost-effective, and aligned to your operational realities.
Technical Support & Helpdesk Advisory
Some organisations need temporary or ongoing technical support that their internal teams cannot provide on their own. We offer structured technical support advisory — helping organisations set up effective IT helpdesk functions, define support tiers and escalation paths, and measure the quality of technical support being delivered. For organisations that need a senior technical resource available outside normal hours, we also provide after-hours advisory support arrangements. This is particularly valuable for government departments and health facilities that operate around the clock and cannot afford extended downtime.
Vendor & Technology Evaluation
Choosing the wrong technology vendor is one of the most expensive mistakes an organisation can make — and one of the most common. We provide independent, vendor-neutral technology evaluation services to help you assess proposals, shortlist suppliers, and select solutions that genuinely meet your needs. We review technical specifications, pricing structures, support commitments, and vendor track records. Because we are not affiliated with any vendor, our recommendations are made entirely in your interest. This service is particularly valuable when preparing tender specifications or evaluating responses to an RFP for a major ICT procurement.
Database Administration & Systems Management Advisory
ZongeTech's roots are in database administration and systems management. Our CEO began his career managing mission-critical IBM and Unix environments at Bankorp (ABSA), Transtel, and Datavia — giving us a deep, practical foundation in the systems that underpin enterprise operations. We provide advisory services for organisations managing complex database environments, including performance tuning guidance, database architecture reviews, backup and recovery assessments, and advice on database platform decisions. This is especially relevant for organisations running ageing database infrastructure that is due for modernisation or migration.

How we work

Discussion
We start by understanding exactly what kind of support you need. Technical advisory and infrastructure work can range from a single conversation with an executive team to a multi-month infrastructure deployment at a remote government site. We take the time to understand your environment, your current capabilities, your constraints, and what a successful outcome looks like — before we recommend anything or commit to a scope.
Strategy
Depending on the nature of the engagement, we produce either an advisory plan or an infrastructure design document. For advisory retainers, this sets out the scope of support, response times, escalation arrangements, and reporting expectations. For infrastructure projects, it covers the technical design, bill of materials, implementation schedule, and risk register. Everything is documented and agreed before work begins, so there are no misunderstandings about what is included and what is not.
Implementation
For infrastructure deployments, we manage procurement, staging, on-site installation, configuration, and testing. We work with your preferred suppliers or help you identify suitable vendors where none have been appointed. Our project managers oversee the technical work and keep your stakeholders updated throughout. For advisory engagements, we make ourselves available as agreed — attending meetings, reviewing documents, responding to technical queries, and escalating concerns when we see something that needs attention at a higher level.
Results
At the end of every infrastructure project, we conduct a formal handover and produce a complete technical record — network diagrams, configuration documentation, warranty information, and maintenance schedules. For advisory engagements, we provide regular activity summaries and outcome reports so your organisation has a clear record of the advice given and the decisions made. We measure our performance against the outcomes agreed at the start, not just the activities completed.
Support
We offer post-deployment support for all infrastructure projects — covering the settling-in period when issues are most likely to emerge. For clients who need ongoing technical support, we provide advisory retainer arrangements that give you access to ZongeTech expertise on a scheduled or on-call basis. We are particularly well suited to serve as an ongoing technical adviser to organisations that do not have a large internal IT department but still need access to senior technical judgment on a regular basis.

PRICING

How We Charge

ZongeTech does not use fixed price lists. Digital transformation engagements vary widely in scope, complexity, and duration — a one-size price list would not serve you well or reflect the actual work involved.

Instead, we offer a free initial consultation to understand your needs. From there, we provide a clear, written proposal with a full breakdown of costs before any work begins. There are no hidden fees and no surprises.

We work with clients on project-based fees, milestone-based billing, and monthly advisory retainers — whichever model suits your organisation best.
